On January 23, 2019, the Grand Rapids Board of Education posted the application and selection criteria for the new superintendent. The board voted on January 14 to conduct a nationwide search, assisted by the Michigan Association of School Boards. The selection criteria for the new superintendent was gathered by the Kent Intermediate School District (Kent ISD) through a series of community meetings and online surveys. The posting can be found here and will remain open until March 1, 2019.
Candidates will be selected by the board on March 11, and the first round of interviews will be Saturday, March 16, beginning at 9 am. The finalists will visit the district on Monday, March 25, and final interviews will take place the same day beginning at 6:00 p.m. If the board does not have a decision made the evening of March 25, then an alternate date would take them to April 8, 2019.
