GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Grand Rapids Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby and Board of Education Treasurer Jen Schottke have both been named to the list of the 50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan for 2024 by Crain's Grand Rapids Business.

The list was announced Tuesday in an article proclaiming that the 50 women are "pushing West Michigan forward with their leadership, knowledge, expertise and collaboration."

"[Dr. Roby] leverages more than 26 years of experience in public education to strive to make a difference in the lives of scholars in the Grand Rapids community," the Crain's article states.

Crain's also highlighted a few of Dr. Roby's accomplishments as superintendent.

"The 2021 Strategic Plan resulted in six prioritized outcomes and six themes that will help shape the trajectory of the district’s future. The district also is enjoying its highest graduation rates in recent history."

Trustee Schottke made the list not only for her work on the Board of Education but also for her role as President of the West Michigan Construction Institute (WMCI).

"Under her leadership, WMCI launched in January 2022 following a successful $6 million capital campaign and will be expanding its facility in 2024 to accommodate new labs and classrooms," the Crain's article states.

Both Dr. Roby and Trustee Schottke were also named to Crain's 200 most influential leaders list last fall.

All 50 women on the list will be honored during a special luncheon on May 1 at the JW Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids.
