GRPS, KCHD, and VTL Hearing and Vision Services are resuming!

Kent County Health Department (KCHD) hearing and vision program and Vision To Learn (VTL) are resuming services for our GRPS families beginning in late February. Both organizations are committed to preventing the spread of COVID-19 and are adhering to safe practices for conducting their work. All KCHD and VTL employees working with students are in the process of getting vaccinated for COVID-19.

If you would like your child to participate in either KCHD or VTL services and you have not completed the GRPS consent form, please click on the following link to provide consent:

GRPS Parent/Guardian Consent Form

Kent County Health Department:
KCHD will begin hearing and vision screenings in late February. Because of COVID-19 restrictions last fall, they are getting a later start this year, so they will be prioritizing our PK-8 grade buildings. Screening dates are currently being scheduled in your school. Priority will be given next fall to those schools that were not screened this year.

If you have students who attend our middle and high schools, or you have students who are engaging in virtual learning, and you would like your student to have a vision or hearing screening, please complete the survey below to indicate your interest. Based on the level of interest, KCHD will arrange for dedicated GRPS screening days to be conducted by appointment at a centralized location. More information to come on this.

KCHD is also working on screening dates for Summer 2021. More information will be provided on this at a later time.

Vision to Learn:
Vision To Learn will also be providing vision screenings, exams, and free glasses in cooperation with KCHD. Again, because of COVID-19 restrictions, VTL is getting a later start and will also be prioritizing our PK-8 grade buildings. Priority will be given next fall to those schools where VTL did not provide services this year.

If you have any questions or need assistance with the online consent form or completing the online survey, please contact your school nurse.

We look forward to providing these essential services to our GRPS students!
