Update: Start of Return to Learn Plan on January 19 with High Schools
I am writing to share an update on our Return to Learn Plan based on new information we received today from Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
In accordance with the latest state health guidance, students in grades 9-12 will now be allowed to start the hybrid in-person model along with PK-8 students on Tuesday, January 19. This is for students whose families opted for the hybrid in-person model. The 100% virtual model will still be provided for students that selected it instead.
As a reminder, all students will remain 100% virtual from Monday, January 4 to Friday, January 15 with the same scheduling format as first semester. The GRPS Hotline, Technology Center, Grab and Go Meal Sites, and schools are closed from December 21 until January 3. District offices are closed from December 24 to January 3.
As with everything related to COVID-19, these plans are subject to change based on any new state or county epidemic orders that may be announced between now and January 19.
I also want to encourage you again to review the new COVID-19 Parent Handbook, Metrics Dashboard, and Frequently Asked Questions on our website at www.GRPS.org/coronavirus.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact your student’s school.
