Mission Statement

"Preparing our Youth for the Future"

Program Vision

Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS) WIA Program offers a multifaceted training for in-school and out-of-school youth. The program has year round employment and training for 200 eligible youth who reside in Grand Rapids and Kent County from the ages of 14-21. GRPS WIA gives each participant an opportunity to select a job shadowing opportunity, work experience activity, and/or an internship that emphasize their career choice or interest. Based on the results of a comprehensive intake process, evaluation, and orientation, participants will be counseled into those services which best meet their academic and occupational needs. The WIA Youth Program will team with partner agencies to provide services, which will include educational support, occupational training, employment services, and follow up.
