City High Middle School is hosting a 40th Anniversary

City High Middle School is hosting a 40th anniversary celebration on March 13-14, 2015. Highlights of the celebration include tours of the current City High Middle School, a staff versus student CityHighLogo200x102basketball game, and a semi-formal event at Kent Country Club.
"During this 40th year, City High Middle School is delighted to celebrate our history and thrilled to explore the potential for our future. As we revisit major events that shaped the growth and vision of this school, we enthusiastically ask you to join us to learn about the founders, leadership, staff, students, and families who passionately worked to develop a sustainable model for City High Middle School. We eagerly look forward to sharing stories, videos, photos, and information with alumni and community friends, so please mark your calendar and plan to attend the 40th anniversary celebration!" said Principal Michael Pascoe.
The Friday anniversary celebration events are open to current and former students, staff, parents, and alumni. Proceeds from the staff versus student basketball game, which takes place at 6:00pm, and concession stand will be used for graduation and senior all night party expenses. There is no cost to attend the open house from 4:00-8:00pm, which will include student-led tours, displays about student organizations and projects, and a presentation about the International Baccalaureate curriculum. The theme for Friday is “City Shines Today”.
Saturday’s “City through the Ages” event at Kent Country Club is a semi-formal event for current and former students, staff, parents, alumni, and community partners. Attendees will hear remarks from distinguished alumni and will have an opportunity to view photos, yearbooks, and other memorabilia. There will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets for Saturday’s event are $35 per person and must be purchased in advance at City through the Ages takes place from 7:00-11:00pm.
City High Middle School PTSA President Gretchen (Hauschild) Mousel, who is a current parent and former student, said, “It is very exciting to be celebrating City High Middle School’s 40th anniversary this year. When we gather in March, we will celebrate the innumerable benefits that City provides our students today, as well as celebrating the quality of education that City has provided 40 years’ worth of alumni.  In the ever changing landscape of public education, it is quite an accomplishment to still offer the strength of curriculum and the unique student experience that has been the hallmark of City for 40 years.”
