8 middle school competitive cheer teams yelled their hearts out at the district’s final cheer competition on Thursday, 1/26. For a lot of the coaches and competitors, this was their first ever performance at an official competition with real panel and safety judges. The district has hosted unofficial jamborees, so this was the first opportunity for coaches to receive real scores and feedback from certified officials.
After performing a round 2 and round 3, each team was awarded a cumulative score. Sherwood Park took home the trophy with a combined score of 200. They defeated runners up and last year’s champions from UPrep who had a score of 189. The Westwood Redhawks came in third with a score of 154, closely followed by City Middle with 146. Other competing teams were CA Frost, MLK, Riverside and GR Ford.
