Division II Pre-Season Player of the Year
Note: This story was originally published online at mlive.com by Sandy Gholston on Tuesday, October 05, 2010, and is available via the link below: http://blog.mlive.com/crimson_and_gold_report/2010/10/ keenan_earns_national_preseason_player_of_the_year_ by_division_ii_bulletin.html
It’s looking like Ferris State University men’s basketball star Justin Keenan is continuing to get his due on the national Division II stage.
Keenan, a 6-foot-6 native of Grand Rapids who prepped at the city’s Ottawa Hills High School, was selected as the Division II Bulletin National Preseason Player of the Year for the upcoming 2010-11 season. A 2009-10 State Farm® Coaches’ All-America First Team selection (the first Division II All-American honor for a Ferris men’s basketball player in school history), Keenan led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in scoring last season at 21.1 points per contest.
Keenan already has garnered a good deal of All-American recognition since the end of last season (2009-10) and this preseason.
Head coach Bill Sall and his staff worked hard in the off season to add players to the team that will help Keenan continue to do work in and out of the paint. New additions like DeMarco Sanders, Jerrell Sanders, Kenny Brown and Brandyn Mungo are among the new guys who could help the solid core the Bulldogs already had returning led by Keenan, Darien Gay, Daniel Sutherlin, Matt DeHart and others.
