
On Monday, January 7, Grand Rapids Public Schools held a green carpet event and ribbon cutting for the new Blandford School.
The Grand Rapids Union Varsity Volleyball team earned a 2012 Academic All Team award by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) with a team GPA of 3.3. The Rosa Parks Education Committee has announced the winners of their recent essay contest and the prizes they will receive. On November 30, Participants enjoyed a commemorative bus ride to Rapid Central Station, where they attended a press conference announcing the winners. GRPS students did an outstanding job and received recognition in every category.

Ottawa Hills High School Principal Rodney Lewis was chosen as the winner of the Fall 2012 Outstanding Alumni Leader Award from the GVSU College of Education!

Grand Rapids Public Schools Nutrition Services Coordinator, Amy Klinkoski, was appointed to the Michigan Food Policy Council by Governor Rick Snyder on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
She will represent K-12 schools for a four year term, which expires on October 31, 2016. Her appointment will go to the Senate for their consent.
