Grand Rapids Public Schools' Icehawk Varsity Hockey is hosting their first hockey expo on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Creston High School. Each admission to the expo includes a lunch ticket, courtesy of Bros. BBQ.
Turning Point Academy, an educational option for high school students who have left school or dropped out, will accept registrations through September. Turning Point is a partnership between Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Rapids Public Schools. The program's goal is to continue to provide alternative pathways to high school completion and seamless transition into the post-secondary educational experiences in an environment that allow students to develop confidence, self-esteem, and academic and social skills.
The Grand Rapids Public Schools Athletics Department announced a new addition to their elementary sports program. Beginning this fall, students in 3rd through 5th grade will be able to participate in a developmental soccer program aimed at providing an opportunity for students to be introduced to the skills of the game of soccer. This will provide students with a new opportunity to stay physically fit while building confidence, teamwork, and soccer skills through a fun sport environment.
