Grand Rapids Public Schools' English Language Learner (ELL) and Migrant Department is hosting several events, including a visit from an award winning author, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15-October 15 and is an annual celebration of the history and culture of Hispanic Americans.
While homeschooled students are not required by the state to take the MEAP, Grand Rapids Public Schools wants to make sure that homeschooled students know that an application for admission to some of the area's top schools, including City High Middle School, Blandford School, Zoo School, and the Center for Economicology, requires MEAP scores to be submitted. MEAP testing will take place October 9-17, 2012.
A group of Grand Rapids Public Schools students will visit the Michigan State University campus on Sept. 22, thanks to donations at the 2012 Steve Smith Charity Challenge golf outing, hosted by the MSU Club of West Michigan.
